![]() ![]() Ya know, I am looking at your original post where you state you are going 25 mph and are seeing 1.6 to 1.9 mpg. It was just me and my wife on the boat, lightly loaded, and anywhere between 58 gallons when we started the day to around 30 when we ended. In this instance above we were with following seas on the trip out but on the way home we had cross-seas and head-on for most of the way back. Do you have bottom paint? Were you going with the current? I have been very pleased with the economy. On flat occasions, which isn't very common by me, I can run at 30 mph and still see 4.0 - 4.2 mpg. This is a motor with some use on her, but she has been very well maintained by professional Yamaha techs. Those are impressive number (to me anyway). If I bump up to my old cruise rpm of 3800, I am now moving along in the low to mid 30’s and still at 3.6-3.8mpg. To cruise at that same 27-28mph, the motor is now only turning 3400rpm and I am averaging 3.9-4.2mpg. However, here is the real impressive part. ![]() All good gains, but I wouldn’t say they are mind blowing, “how did I ever live without this” type gains. The hole shot is certainly better, better throttle response and my top end is now 58-5900 rpm and 49-51mph. Well, I must say that there is quite a difference in the performance of the motor now. The Flash supposedly brings the motor to 330hp with a ~6-8% increase in torque and is supposed to offer increased fuel economy at cruise. My numbers on on the 250 prior to the flash were RPM’s maxing out around 5400 w/ a 15.5x17 SWSII prop moving along at 46-47mph. My boat has bottom paint and we typically run fairly heavy with full fuel, 200+lbs of ice, lot of fishing equipment, etc. The motor has ~1200 hrs on it and I have been planning to repower with a 300 sometime in the coming 2-3 years. I have a 2017 239FS with a ‘17 Yamaha F250XB. So thought I would give some feedback from my recent NIZPRO experience. There seems to be little real world information on the ECU flashes for outboards, even though they have been around for sometime. ![]()
